Course Content:

 The course aims to introduce participants to the theory and skills necessary for safe and effective practice in surgical assistance and to provide an opportunity to develop these skills in a safe and supportive environment.

Course Programme:

The role and responsibilities of the surgical practitioner

Lectures and practical lab sessions on suturing, minor operative techniques, dissection and haemostasis, closure and drain insertion, elliptical wounds, cysts and langers line

The art of assisting including suction, retraction, haemostasis

An introduction to electrosurgery

Lectures on wound healing and anaesthesia
